Subject: 19357/Agmt/Conv.&Visitors Bureau/Funding Date: Fri, 15 Feb 1991 10:49:00 -0500 RESOLUTION NO. 19357 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE AN AGREEMENT WITH HAMILTON COUNTY, TENNESSEE, THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU, AND/OR THE RIVERCITY COMPANY TO PROVIDE CITY FUNDING IN THE AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED FOUR HUNDRED FIFTY THOUSAND AND NO/100 DOLLARS ($450,000.00) FOR A NEW CONVENTION AND VISITOR'S CENTER IN THE ROSS'S LANDING AREA TO BE OPERATED BY THE BUREAU, WHICH AGREEMENT IS SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS DESCRIBED HEREIN. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That the Mayor be and is hereby authorized to execute an agreement with Hamilton County, Tennessee, the Convention and Visitors Bureau, and/or the RiverCity Company to provide City funding in the amount not to exceed $450,000.00 for a new Convention and Visitor's Center in the Ross's Landing area to be operated by the Bureau, which agreement is subject to the following conditions: (1) Operational funding shall only be for three (3) years at an amount not to exceed $150,000.00/year; (2) That the subsidy of the City and County be reduced by requiring that payments vendors make for use of the plaza be used to offset the City/County required subsidy; (3) After three (3) years proceeds from the hotel/motel tax will replace all City funding; and (4) That Hamilton County commit an equal amount of funds over the first three years, which funds shall not be from hotel/motel tax funds.
